In 1992, a sculptor named Jean-Claude LE ROUX settled in Camaret. In that time, only two artists worked here and a lot of small craft shops had been closed by retirement or bankruptcy.
After some time, the sculptor invited a few artist friends of his to visit Camaret and to exhibit in the port town. Then, most of LE ROUX’s artist friends settled in Camaret too and turned the former and closed post office, fishmonger’s, haberdasher's or ironmonger's shops into Art Galleries.
With time, this group of artists and galleries have constituted the Artists’ Centre which offers today a wide range of artistic outlooks and expressions. The artists will be delighted to share their work and love of art with everyone. So, they invite all of you to celebrate with them their annual and common varnishing at the summer solstice time (on the last Sunday of June).
